These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Hanzi Ben application ("the App") and the optional Hanzi Ben Pro purchase. By downloading, using, or purchasing within the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Hanzi Ben is operated by BNG Studios ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at support@hanziben.com or via www.hanziben.com.

1. The App

Hanzi Ben is a Chinese-character handwriting practice application. The free version of the App provides a limited set of curricula and chapters. A one-time in-app purchase ("Pro") unlocks the full set of curricula, books, chapters, and the complete character set in search and handwriting, including future content added to the App.

2. Free version and Pro

• The App is free to download and use with the included free content.
• Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. The price is set and displayed by the app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) in your local currency, and the price shown at the time of purchase governs.
• Pro unlocks all current content and any content we add in the future at no additional charge. We do not guarantee any specific future content, feature, or release schedule.

3. Purchases, billing, and restore

• All purchases are processed by the platform app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) through your store account. We never receive or store your payment details.
• Pro is tied to your store account. You can restore a previous purchase on a new or reinstalled device using the Restore purchases option in the App, which asks the store what your account owns. No Hanzi Ben account is required.
• Promotional or discount codes, where offered, are issued and redeemed through the platform app store and are subject to the store's terms.

4. Refunds

Because purchases are processed by the app store, refunds are handled by the app store (Apple or Google) according to their respective policies. Please direct refund requests to the relevant store. Where required by applicable law, your statutory rights are unaffected.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use the App for personal, lawful learning purposes. You agree not to reverse engineer, resell, redistribute, or attempt to circumvent the Pro unlock or the app store's purchase mechanisms, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

6. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available within the App. In short: the App has no account system and keeps your learning data on your device. Handwriting recognition runs on your device; the strokes you draw are processed locally and are not sent to us or to any third party.

7. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that recognition results will be accurate. Handwriting recognition runs on your device and may need to prepare an on-device language model before first use.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BNG Studios will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be made available within the App and on our website, and continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
